This elegant lacquered wood desk was made in France between the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the Louis XV style. The shaped top, lined in leather, in good condition, is edged by a slightly protruding bronze band, useful to prevent sheets and documents placed on it from slipping off.
The undertop band is lacquered in black and decorated with very delicate chinoiserie designs in the polychromy used. The locks of the three drawers, the handles and the decorations on the uprights of the legs are in finely chiseled gilt bronze with particular and asymmetrical rocaille motifs that give charm to the furniture.
The four legs, curved and arched, and ending with a gilt bronze tip, bring lightness to the desk. The pleasing proportions give this desk decorativeness and ease of insertion into any environment, both next to antique and modern furnishings.
