Polychrome painted paper centerpiece, Tuscany, early 19th century Dimensions: Cm H 6 x W 122 x D 47 Price: by private negotiation Item accompanied by certificate of authenticity This centerpiece, or surtout de table, was created in the Neoclassical period in the early 19th century. The top, under glass, features a valuable painting on paper applied to canvas with a classicizing geometric design. Inside ovals are fan motifs and in the center, within a diamond shape, are grotesque drawings. The metal border is chiseled at the corners with leafy decorations. Each of the three sections is suspended from the ground by four turned wooden feet. This very decorative centerpiece is perfect as a tray or surface in the center of a set table, but also as an ornamental element on a console or chest of drawers. Perfect paired with both antique and modern furniture. The colors of the painting, in shades of pink, violet, and blue, are very current and particularly harmonious.
